Μαρτύρησαν για το όνομα του Χριστού στη Χίο το 1822. Άπ' αυτούς, ό Σταμάτιος και ό Ιωάννης ήταν αδέλφια. Ό πατέρας τους ονομαζόταν Θεόδωρος Γκίνης ή δε μητέρα τους Άνέζω. Το 1822 οι νέοι αυτοί, μαζί με άλλους πέντε και τον συναθλητή τους Νικόλαο, μπήκαν σ' ένα πλοίο φορτωμένο με λάδι για να το εμπορευτούν σε διάφορα λιμάνια. Λόγω μεγάλης θαλασσοταραχής, προσάραξαν στον Τσεσμέ, Μικρασιατική παραλία απέναντι από τη Χίο. 'Οταν βγήκαν στην ξηρά, τους φιλοξένησε κάποιος χριστιανός, πού αργότερα τους πρόδωσε στους Τούρκους με αποτέλεσμα αυτοί να θανατώσουν δύο από τους συντρόφους, δυο άλλοι διασώθηκαν αφού έπεσαν στη θάλασσα και συνελήφθηκαν οι Σταμάτιος, Ιωάννης και ό γέροντας πλοίαρχος Νικόλαος. Στίς 26 Ιανουαρίου 1822 τους παρουσίασαν στον πασά της Χίου. Ό πασάς αφού τους άνέκρινε, τους μεν Σταμάτιο και Ιωάννη έκλεισε στη φυλακή, τον δε γέροντα Νικόλαο αποκεφάλισε στην εκτός του Κάστρου πεδιάδα. Οι Τούρκοι αφού δεν κατάφεραν να άλλαξοπιστήσουν τα δύο αδέλφια, στον ίδιο τόπο πού αποκεφάλισαν τον Νικόλαο, αποκεφάλισαν και αυτούς στίς 3-2-1822. Προηγουμένως, ό Σταμάτιος, πού τότε ήταν 18 χρονών και ό Ιωάννης, πού ήταν 22 χρονών, έστειλαν έγγραφη εξομολόγηση στον Μητροπολίτη Χίου, πήραν την ευχή του, κατόρθωσαν να κοινωνήσουν των Άχραντων μυστηρίων και έτσι έφυγαν για την αιώνια ζωή καθ' όλα έτοιμοι.

They martyred for the name of Christ in Chios in 1822. From them, Stamatios and John were brothers. Their father was named Theodore Ginis and their mother Anezo. In 1822 these young men, with five others and their fellow struggler Nicholas, went on a boat loaded with oil to trade it in different ports. Because of a very stormy ocean, they landed on Tsesme, a sea-shore across from Chios. When they got off onto dry land, they were given hospitality by a certain “Christian,” who later betrayed them to the Turks which resulted in two of the comrades being put to death, two others saving themselves by jumping back into the ocean, and the capture of Stamatios, John, and the old captain Nicholas. On January 26, 1822 they were presented to the Pasha of Chios. The Pasha, since he was going to judge them, sent them to prison, the old Nicholas was beheaded in the plain outside the fortress. The Turks, since they could not convince the brothers to convert their faith, in the place where they beheaded Nicholas, they also beheaded them on February 2, 1822. Before, Stamatios, who was then 18 years old, and John, who was 22 years old, sent a document of confession to the Metropolitan of Chios, they got his blessing, they succeeded in communing of the Immaculate Mysteries, and in this way left for the eternal life prepared.
